I Am God is no ordinary love story; it’s darker: Filmmaker Ravi Gowda

Kannada romance-thriller I Am God is a love story that refuses to play by the rules. “I wanted to make a love story, but there are thousands already. Adding a crime twist was my way of reinventing the genre and making it unpredictable and gripping,” says Ravi Gowda, lead actor, director and script writer of the film, which hits the screens today, November 7. The film, produced under the banner of CBG Productions, also stars Vijeta Pareek, Ravi Shankar, Avinash, and Aruna Balraj, with music by Ajaneesh B Loknath.

Speaking further about the film, Ravi adds, “It explores the clash be tween love and terror, and follows the story of Deva and Bindhu, whose passionate romance unfolds in a city stalked by a masked killer calling himself ‘God’,” he shares. Bringing together a mix of fresh and seasoned talent, Ravi says the experience “was both challenging and rewarding”. “Guiding Vijeta while observing senior performers helped me grow as a director,” he says. Meanwhile, Vijeta says the project was a leap of faith. “I didn’t read the script when I auditioned, but once I did, I was hooked,” she recalls.
