I feel like a newcomer

... says Sanchita Shetty
Seven years in the film industry can equate to a lifetime, so making a comeback after all that time can be unnerving for an actress. But Sanchita Shetty is confident and happy about her meaty role in

Badmaash

, in which she has been paired with Dhananjaya. She spoke to BT about the film, working with Dhananjaya and her personal life'

Not a comeback, but a newcomer
I always believe that if you want something, you will definitely get it. I was wishing for the best role in

Kannada

, and whatever I had done so far was like a learning process. I don't feel like I am making a comeback; in fact, I feel like a newcomer. Everyone is noticing me now as the Badmaash heroine, which I'm very happy about.

A passionate Kannadiga RJ
My role in the film is one of the best that I have ever played, and has lots of layers. My character is that of an RJ, a passionate Kannadiga, who teaches Kannada to non-Kannadigas. The other layers are a suspense for the audience, which will only be revealed once they watch the movie. Many heroines are around only for a couple of scenes in films, but mine is a key role, and I will be seen from the beginning to the end. I am sure that people will love my character.

Working with Dhananjaya
Dhananjaya has a background in theatre and is an established hero. It was great working with him, and I got to learn many things from him. He's a very down-to-earth and friendly person. If I gave him any inputs for a scene, he would consider it without any ego, and I would do the same. We were very comfortable with each other and that translated into our onscreen chemistry. We are more than just hero and heroine ' we are good friends now.

Language, no bar
I have been doing quite a few Tamil films, but for me, work is everywhere, and I am just working. I am going to do a

Malayalam

film next year. Language is not a barrier. It's just the roles that matter.

On the personal front
Since I haven't been linked with anyone, it must mean that I am single (laughs). I am not dating anyone right now. I am really focused on my work, and I have to be that way now. If something happens gradually, then OK, but right now, my work is my priority.
