Kannada actor and reality show contestant, Roopesh Shetty, is back in Bengaluru after completing shoot for his portions of his debut Tamil film, Sannidhanam PO, with Tamil actor-comedian Yogi Babu. In a chat with us, Roopesh shares his thoughts about dipping his foot into a new film industry and sharing screen space with a legendary actor.
“I was a nervous wreck on the first day of shooting. Being from Kasargod, I know Malayalam so I felt I would be able to manage Tamil. Initially, I took prompts, but that didn’t work out because there were gaps and timing mismatches. So, from the next day, I started practising my dialogues well in advance, memorising the ones that I couldn’t understand. I did well on the second day without prompts and this gave me the confidence to continue,” he shares.
‘Yogi Babu is fun to work with’“I was a bit intimidated by Yogi, as he has acted with legends like Rajnikanth and Vijay, but he made me feel extremely comfortable. He told me how he never goes back without visiting Shivanna’s (actor Shivarajkumar) house every time he is in Bengaluru. He also spoke about his bond with Puneeth Rajkumar, and how an almost-finalised project with the late actor didn’t take off due to some issues. He also confessed that he wants to do a good Kannada film,” Roopesh Shetty adds.
