It’s hard to replicate success on TV into films: Thandav Ram

Thandav Ram is one among the many TV stars who is gearing up to star in a Kannada film. And he tells us, he is wary of the fact that making an impact on the television and on the big screen are two different things altogether. “I think the viewing patterns for the two mediums are completely in contrast with each other. A lot of the audience that watch films primarily, tend to not be in the habit of watching TV serials; and the audience you find that is addicted to these shows and follow the stories over years, do not really visit the cinema hall to catch the latest film. That is why I would consider myself an absolute newcomer with this new film, even though I have been a part of eight TV shows so far," explains Thandav, who will be seen in the Bharath Navunda directorial Devanampriya.
While the actor was seen in the Kannada film Abbabba earlier this year, this venture will mark his debut in the lead role. Of the difference in approach to the two mediums, Thandav says, "TV shows go on for months and years, so there is enough and more time to develop various layers to a character in the story. In a film, a character needs to make that impact within very limited time. I am looking forward to these challenges as I get to portray a progressive farmer in this story that focuses on the whole idea of a joint family in today's time."
