This week's Kannada release,
John Jani Janardhan (JJJ), is Padmanabha Gowda's first film for Muthappa Rai's banner. The film is the remake of the Malayalam film Amar Akbar Anthony, which had a strong social message and was the biggest draw for the production house.
'Our aim is to give Kannada audiences quality films and support the industry.
JJJ required a massive ensemble cast, including roles that hardly even needed lines to be spoken.
Yet even for that, we decided to get known names from the industry, which is our way of doing our bit for Sandalwood,' says Padmanabha. The film, which has
Krishna Ajai Rao, Yogi and Krishna in the lead, also boasts of five very important cameos played by actors as varied as Aindrita Ray, Gurunandan, Bhavana Rao, Paavana and Malashree.' They are ably supported by artistes like the late Sanket Kasi (who passed away after the filming of
JJJ), Sreenivas Murthy, Girija Lokesh, Chitra Shenoy, Biradar, Umesh, Dingri Nagraj, Kari Subbu, Yathiraj, Chidanand, Tennis Krishna, Rekha and Bhaskar, among many others. We have at least 40 actors onboard,' he says, adding that a special mention goes out to child artiste Diya, who plays pivotal role in the film.
