Sagar Puranik’s Dollu, starring reality show-winner Karthik Mahesh, has been chosen to be part of the Indian Film Festival, Mexico. Dollu will be screened across Mexico on multiple days. Other Indian films selected to be part of the festival include, RRR, Bajirao Mastani, Soorarai Pottru, and Tanhaji. Elated, Sagar Puranik shares, “It is indeed an honour to show a part of our culture to people from across the globe. That’s the beauty of films; we can show a little bit of us to the whole world in just a few minutes. In fact, the film opened in Boston, US and has travelled across the world for different film festivals. It is a proud feeling to share our indigenous culture with the rest of the world and have people resonate with it.”
Dollu has also been chosen to be part of another international film festival in Mexico, and more details are awaited. Set in rural milieu, it narrates the story of a young Dollu Kunitha performer, who struggles to revive the dying art form. The film has also won two awards at the 68th National Film Awards, Best Feature Film – Kannada and best audiography.
