'Kantara: Chapter 1' release: Rishab Shetty's film clears censor board with UA certificate; makers confirm only one cut
Directed by and headlined by Rishab Shetty, 'Kantara: Chapter 1' is set to release soon. Ahead of the film's release on Gandhi Jayanti, the film has cleared the censor board and has been awarded a UA certificate.
Interestingly, as the makers revealed, the folklore action drama has received the certification with just a single cut.
Apart from Rishab Shetty, the movie features Sapthami Gowda, Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, PD Satish Chandra, and Prakash Thuminad in pivotal roles. The music is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, who also scored the original film.
For 'Kantara: Chapter 1', the team collaborated with both national and international stunt specialists on an extensive battle sequence involving over 500 skilled fighters and more than 3,000 people. This sequence was shot on rugged terrain across a specially built town that spanned 25 acres. The shoot alone stretched over 45–50 days, making it one of the most ambitious undertakings in recent times.
During an interview with Pinkvilla, Rishab Shetty assured fans that the upcoming film will leave a jaw-dropping mark on the viewers. It will have an impact equivalent to the 'Kantara' 2022 climax. In the same conversation, he also mentioned whether there will be a multi-film universe, to which the 42-year-old hinted that it also depends on the film's response. "Last time we only wrote 'Legend' in the tagline, it became 'Chapter 1' now only no. Let's see. We'll have to wait and see what the film has to say to the world," he said.
'Kantara: Chapter 1' is scheduled for a grand worldwide release on October 2. The film will be released in multiple languages, including Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English.
