Kashmir becomes a hot favourite for Kannada filmmakers post pandemic

The permission for shoots in Kashmir and the restrictions on international travel during the pandemic has resulted in more filmmakers from Kannada opting to shoot in Kashmir. Post the pandemic, as many as three teams have already shot in the state.
The first Kannada film to have been shot in Kashmir post the pandemic was Prem's

Ek Love Ya

. The team was originally scheduled to shoot in Europe, but they eventually looked at options in India after the onset of the pandemic. "The shoot in Kashmir was absolutely magical. The locations offer us so many options, I am glad I got to shoot there," says filmmaker Prem.
Meanwhile, two more

Kannada films

have also shot in Kashmir. Interestingly, both these films,

Ratnan Prapancha

, capture a physical journey through their narrative and the opening up of spaces to shoot in Kashmir made it easy for them. "We needed the climax of our film to capture the snowfall in winter and the cold climate to be the setting. Kashmir proved to be the absolutely perfect setting for us," shares Kiranraj K, director of 777 Charlie.
