Launch date of the much-awaited trailer in Law’s new poster today

The Ragini Prajwal starrer is slated to release on OTT on June 26

Filmmaker Raghu Samarth

is only on his second directorial, but one thing that he has been clear about is that his movies should have

strong female characters

, and not just have them around for glamour.
He tried it with his debut, Smile Please. And his new film, Law, which marks the acting debut of Ragini Prajwal, actor Prajwal Devaraj’s wife, is a story that revolves around her character. That apart, the film is also content-driven, which, Raghu says, would have made it ideal as a multiplex film. “But with cinema halls shut and uncertainty prevailing about when they will reopen and if audiences will actually head out, it made sense for me and producer-actor Puneeth Rajkumar to give it an

OTT release

and make it available to their target audience. Although

Law

was censored and ready last year, its release was planned sequentially by the production house, which had other films also lined up. Unfortunately, by the time we could release, the pandemic struck,” he explains.

The film has been picked up by Amazon Prime and will release on June 26, in the run-up to which Raghu is looking at revealing sneak peeks about it, starting with a poster launch today. “We had earlier released a poster to announce the release date on the OTT platform. The poster today will announce the much-awaited trailer, which we are following up with a motion poster, a teaser and trailer launch before the official release,” he says.
