The release of the Veerappan biopic will depend on the Madras High Courts decision today
One film that has managed to remain in the news ever since its launch is AMR Rameshs Veerappan biopic Attahasa. From day one, there have been a lot of controversies surrounding it. Now as the film gears up for release, the team awaits the final judgment from the Madras High Court on an objection plea filed by the late forest brigands wife Muthulakshmi.
After Muthulakshmi watched the film at a special screening organized by the makers, she objected to it, stating that the film glorified Dr Rajkumar as a hero. But, what was shown in the film was just what happened during the time that the matinee idol was abducted, says a source close to the film. While other people who had raised objections to the film, including journalist Nakeeran Gopal, have given a green signal to the films release, the Censor Board has also cleared it and tax-free certificates have been issued. Word has it that the team is trying its best for a Diwali release once the court gives its go ahead. The film, which stars Kishore as Veerappan, has already been delayed for long, considering the courts were on holiday during Dussehra. When contacted, director Ramesh said, We are awaiting the judgment from the court. Whatever the court orders, we will comply with it. We want to release the film as soon as possible.
