Actor Disha Ramesh, who was last in Devara Naadalli, is making a comeback to the silver screen after a break of four years with Swami and Friends, which will be directed by debutante Rudri Rishik. The film also stars her father Mandya Ramesh, along with B Suresha and Ramesh Pandit in significant roles. The project will be predominantly shot in Mysuru and Madikeri.
Disha says, “My role is that of a Muslim girl who leads her life by following certain principles set by her father. She raises her voice against injustices and wants equality in society. It is a female-oriented movie that conveys a message in the climax. This is only the second time that I am sharing screen space with my father and that prospect excites me.”
Why was she away from acting for so long, though? “During Devara Naadalli, I was still pursuing my graduation, so, I wanted to finish that and go on to do masters in theatre before dedicating myself to films, as I believe education is equally important. I have now decided to act in more films if I get content-oriented scripts,” she says.
