Indian cinema’s best known voice, Manna Dey, is no more. The legendary singer passed away in the wee hours of the morning, today, at the Narayana Hrudayalaya.
Manna Dey was suffering from prolonged illness – a lung infection which had him in and out of hospitals for a long time.
Last rumours about his failing health came up earlier this week, when the singer’s entire family was called to Bangalore as Manna Dey was apparently breathing his last at the ICU.
The singer, who has lent his voice to songs in just about any Indian language you can think of, was living in Bangalore with his daughter Shumita Deb.
Manna Dey’s body will be placed at the Ravindra Kalakshetra for public viewing from 10.30 am onwards today.
