The

Karnataka high court

on Friday directed the Cubbon Park police not to arrest actor Arjun Sarja till the November 14 in relation the

FIR

registered based on a complaint given by Sruthi Hariharan in connection with #Me Too controversy.

Justice P S Dinesh Kumar noted that the complaint on hand dates back to three years while passing the interim order. The Judge however permitted the police to continue the investigation in the case.

This was after Additional Advocate General (AAG) A S Ponnanna opposed grant of any interim order saying that the police are bound to investigate when a complaint is filed.

Senior advocate B V Acharya, who appeared for Arjun Sarja argued that the complainant had filed an improved and tailor made version in her complaint after studying Indian Penal Code.

He added that whatever alleged in the complaint had happened at a workplace and without exhausting the remedies available under the special legislation called Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 , a complaint under IPC provisions could not have been filed or entertained.

According to him , Sruthi filed the complaint as a counter blast two days after Arjun Sarja had filed a defamation suit and also a complaint with the Cyber crime police .
