My roles had impact and were on par with lead actors, says Suneel

Suneel Puranik, who has become active in films post his stint as the chairman of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, will play the lead in the movie, Samarasya.
Having played many characters on screen over the years, Suneel’s move to playing the lead roles is one he thinks have been long due.
“I treat every role equally. I might not have been seen as a hero on the big screen so far, but the kind of impact my roles have had on the stories I have been a part of were on par with that of the lead actors’. Now, with Samarasya, which is based on Belagere Krishna Shastri’s novel and directed by Hiriyuru Raghavendra, I get to play the lead role. Incidentally, I will also be seen as the lead in another film, directed by son Sagar.”

Meanwhile, Suneel also returns to Telugu television after two decades with the serial, Naga Panchami. On working in both Telugu and Kannada film and TV industries, Suneel tells us, “Actors working across state borders is hardly a new concept. These crossovers have become a topic of conversation more now than ever because of the pan-India concept and they don’t have any language barriers,” says Suneel.
