Mysuru transforms into a shooting hot spot
Over the years, Mysuru has transformed into a shooting hot spot with pretty much every filmmaker worth his salt planning a schedule in the Heritage City. Here's more...
Sri Bharatha Bahubali
This film marks the acting debut of Masterpiece director Manju Mandavya, along with Chikkanna and Sarah Harish. The team recently had a long schedule in Mysuru, and while Manju remained tight-lipped about the necessity to shoot here, it was crystal clear that the city’s heritage structures were a big draw for him. In fact, one of the scenes that they canned while in Mysuru was of Sarah striking multiple poses for a photo shoot in front of the Palace. If that isn’t the perfect depiction of Mysuru, then what is?
The team of the Kannada film Butterfly, led by director Ramesh Aravind, camped in Mysuru for not one, but two schedules. The film is the official remake of the Hindi film Queen and the team first headed here to can the ‘Wedding Song’, which they followed up with a schedule to capture the airport sequence. Ramesh, who is also directing the Tamil and Telugu versions, got actresses
Veteran actor Jaggesh is also currently in Mysuru for the shoot of his next, Premier Padmini. Jaggesh and Pramod recently shot key portions of the film, which is helmed by Ramesh Indira (of television soap operas Devi and Mahadevi fame). The film team, we are told, zeroed in on Mysuru for the shoot because of its majestic heritage structures, greenery across the city and relatively better traffic conditions.
Major portions of the Kannada film Kaajal are currently being shot in Mysuru. The film marks the Sandalwood debut of Simran Natekar, famous as the child artiste in the ‘No Smoking’ ad played before films across the country. Simran plays the title character in the film, in which she is paired with Santosh Balaraj of Ganapa fame. The film is being directed by Sumanth, whose earlier release was the horror flick, Naani.
One of the most important sequences in director Yogaraj Bhat’s next, Panchatantra, happens in Mysuru. The filmmaker and his team were in the city for a long schedule, during which they canned a race sequence, featuring lead actors Vihaan Gowda, Sonal Monteiro and Rangayana Raghu, among others. In the film, the sequence is about a race from Bengaluru to Mysuru and the team was able to recreate dirt racing tracks in the city.
