Following the return of the 100% occupancy rule, it's a huge cause for celebration for the Kannada cinema audience

Good times are back in the Sandalwood town as 100% occupancy returns cinema halls after a long gap. And with the industry raring to get back in action, there's a lot in store for the audience who will finally get to see their favorite stars back on the big screen. From mushy rom-coms to fantasy epics, gritty action dramas to ghostly adventures, there's something for every palette here - so, let's take a look at everything that this October Fest boasts of.

Mohandas

Nine-time National Award-winning director P. Sheshadri attempts to recreate Mahatma Gandhi's crucial childhood to adolescence period in his new film. Based on the Sahitya Akademi Award-winning book 'Papu Gandhi, Babu Aada Kathe' by Bolwar Mohammad Kunhi and Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography 'The Story of My Experiments with Truth', 'Mohandas' traverses Gandhi's life between the ages 6 and 14 with child artists Param Swamy and Samarth Hombal essaying Mahatma Gandhi at different ages. Actor Shruthi plays Putli Bai in the film while Anant Mahadevan plays Karamchand Gandhi. Mohandas came out in theatres on the 1st of October.

Duniya Vijay's 'Salaga' to release on October 14th

Duniya Vijay has had to endure a long delay in the release of his directorial debut but the wait is finally over. 'Salaga', set in the local underworld milieu, has Vijay also star in the titular role while Daali Dhananjaya essays the role of a cop for the very first time in his career. Kotigobba-3

The Kiccha Sudeep starrer has had its share of troubles before release but it certainly looks like all's well in the 'Kotigobba 3' camp. Sudeep reprises his dual role of Shiva/ghost in the new installment and will now be accompanied by popular Malayalam actor Madonna Sebastian (Kannada debut), Bollywood's Aftab Shivdasani, and Shraddha Das.

Shrikrishna@gmail.com

Actor Darling Krishna will kick off his long season of releases with 'Shrikrishna@gmail.com', which comes out on the 15th of October. He's joined here by Bhavana with Nagshekar of 'Sanju Weds Geetha' and 'Myna' fame directing the romantic-drama film. 'Shrikrishna@gmail.com' was initially slated to release a day prior, on the 14th of October, but the makers pushed it by a day owing to the stiff competition the film is likely to receive from 'Salaga' and 'Kotigobba 3'.

Bhajarangi-2

Director A. Harsha's visual spectacle 'Bhajarangi 2' will come out in theatres on the 29th of October and finally get out of the "release rut" it was stuck in for so long. The film was first scheduled to release back in May of 2021 but the makers were forced to delay the release due to a huge surge in Covid-19 cases at the time. The next announcement revealed a new release date of September 10th but with the 50% occupancy still in place, the only option left was to postpone the release one more time. The makers, as hoped all along, will witness packed houses once the film hits the screens on the 29th.

Premam Poojyam

Director Raghevendra B.S. and Lovely Star Prem are proving to be quite the combination in with their grand visions. Even before the release of their maiden collaboration 'Premam Poojyam', which releases on the 29th of October, the duo has announced a new project which is to be based on the life and times of Field Marshal Cariappa. 'Premam Poojyam', on the other hand, will be Prem's landmark 25th film and the makers have ensured that the film is special by all means - 'Premam Poojyam' is the first-ever Kannada film to be shot in Vietnam.
