Actress Kaashima Rafi feels that the rise of OTT platforms has shifted the focus from star power to strong content. “OTT has pushed filmmakers to be more creative, which is why we’re seeing more female-centric stories and realistic subjects. These diverse narratives have opened up a wealth of opportunities for actors. Scripts now demand even female actors to undergo physical transformations,” says the actress who will be essaying the role of an archaeologist in her next, a film titled Victoria Mansion, directed by Rajesh Balipa.
Kaashima, who already has two Kannada films under her belt, has also made inroads into the neighbouring Tollywood industry. She attributes her ability to work in multiple languages to the “adaptibility” of Kannada actors. “The advantage of being a Kannada actor is that we can recite any language dialogue, which makes it easy to work in other languages. In today’s world of multilingual releases, it’s more about breathing life into characters than where you come from,” she says.
