Parvathi Menon's Maryan gets U/A certificant
The Bharat Bala directorial Maryan -- which stars Kollywood star Dhanush and Andar Bahar actress Parvathi Menon -- has been given a U/A rating by the censor board for its theme and some violence in the climax. However, the buzz is that producer Aascar Ravichandran is not happy with the certification, as it this means that the film will not be entitled to a film entertainment tax exemption.

So Ravichandran and Bala are trying to convince the censors to grant the film a U certificate, and may even go to the revising committee to that end.
Maryan revolves around a story of human survival, and has been adapted from a newspaper article of a real-life crisis, when three oil workers from India were kidnapped and taken hostage in Sudan by mercenaries. The music is by AR Rahman, and cinematography by Marc Koninckx. Ravichandran has informed the trade that Maryan will have a worldwide release on June 27.
