passed away at his Bengaluru residence yesterday. He was 73 and is survived by his wife, daughter and son.

According to reports, Vyasa Rao — who was a lyricists for many of Puttanna Kanagal's films — suffered a massive cardiac arrest while he was having breakfast at home.

Vyasa Rao was also a novelist and has written several Kannada novels, as well as short stories, having won the Karnataka Rajya Sahitya Academy award for the short story collection, Maleyalli Neneda Maragalu.
