Sandalwood superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, who picked up a Filmfare award recently for the Kannada remake of Nadodigal (Hudugaru), is working in the remake of Poraali with Samuthirakani. 'I really liked both these films. And both are my home productions. Hudugaru is my first Tamil remake. When I did
Hudugaru, people asked me why I was doing a multi-starrer. But I didn't think of the film like that.
It was a great script. I have finished one schedule with Samuthirakani and it's been good. There are a lot of talented filmmakers in the Tamil industry. And we have a lot of friends here ' Mr Rajinikanth and his family are family friends. I also know Vikram, Suriya and Dhanush,' says Puneeth.
Buzz has it that Puneeth is mentoring his 22-year-old nephew,
Vinay, Raghavendra's son. 'We are a close-knit family and he's always with me, but I am not mentoring him. He does want to become an actor, but he will decide when he chooses to.'
So, are all decisions about films taken by his brother, Raghavendra? 'Yes, we decide jointly. He is more experienced than I am and we are close as a family,' says Puneeth.
