Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently shared that a well-known director struggled to get through the Yash starrer 'KGF: Chapter 2,' finding it nearly "unbearable.". In a recent interview, he shared the details of a chat with the director over the phone.

During an interview with Pinkvilla, Ram Gopal Varma shared that the director confessed that he couldn't watch more than 15 minutes of 'KGF 2" at a time'. He even resorted to taking breaks for "breathing sessions" on his balcony and practicing yoga to cope.

Varma mentioned", I tried to see KGF 2, you know; after 15 minutes I couldn't take it," and then he went to a breathing session in the balcony and did yoga. He came back and saw another 15 minutes, and then he took a shower, and he said, "I was willing myself." He hated the film.

The director attempted to push through by taking a shower but ultimately couldn't continue watching after the intermission. Varma advised himself to simply stop watching the film.

RGV later expressed his surprise at the film's massive success, especially given the director's strong aversion to it. The director himself acknowledged the film's success, admitting that "you can't argue with success," even if you dislike the content.

"Then, two days later, he was sitting with his writer, and the writer was telling him something, and he said, "How can that happen? It's so illogical or something." "Yeah, but that's what worked in KGF 2," he said. So he said, "Now this whole old Hollywood line, you can argue about the content; you can't argue with success." So if you, for some reason, didn't like the film but millions loved it, then the problem for the director is, does he force himself to do something that he doesn’t like?" RGV said.

Varma also discussed the potential pitfalls of filmmakers abandoning their convictions to chase commercial success. He said that a director can start losing his own conviction if he is pushed to cater to what the audience seems to want.

Earlier in 2022, RGV was critical of 'KGF: Chapter 2' in the past, calling it a "dark cloud" for the Hindi film industry and stating that "nobody in Bollywood liked it.". He stated that two films that have "f**ked up everything are KGF - Chapter 2 and The Kashmir Files," labeling them as being on "opposite ends of the spectrum.".
