Renukaswamy murder case: Darshan Thoogudeepa taken to hospital after severe back pain

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been in judicial custody since June 2024, facing serious allegations in the murder case of his fan, Renukaswamy. Reports indicate that Darshan has been suffering from severe health issues, particularly extreme back pain while being detained.

As per a report by Kannada Oneindia, he was transferred from Bellary jail to VIMS Hospital for medical evaluation. This decision came after he complained of intense back pain, which led authorities to arrange an MRI scan to determine the cause of his discomfort. Videos circulating on social media show Darshan being escorted to the hospital under tight security. After the examination, he was returned to jail.

Meanwhile, Darshan's lawyer has filed a petition for bail based on his deteriorating health condition, which may require surgical intervention. The court, led by Justice Vishwajit Shetty, has requested all medical reports related to Darshan's health and has adjourned the hearing until October 28, 2024. There is speculation that this delay could lead to a possible bail grant for Darshan around Diwali, which falls on October 31, 2024.

For context, Darshan was arrested following the brutal murder of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old fan who allegedly sent inappropriate messages to his alleged girlfriend Pavithra Gowda. It is said that Renukaswamy would call out Pavithra for damaging Darshan's marriage, which seemed to not sit well with the actor and he orchestrated the murder. The victim's body was found near a flyover in Bengaluru. His body had severe torture involving electric shocks, beaten with belt prior to his death.
