Film actors become role models and inspiration to people with their heroic characters they play in movies. However, there are times when they prove themselves to be a good Samaritans even outside their work arena. Right from adopting children and animals in need to providing for education of the poor kids, here we list down a few celebrities and their work of philanthropy.

‘Real Star’ Upendra is one of the multi-talented stars in Sandalwood. He is known for his direction in the industry. Upendra started his career in 1989 and became a successful director, actor, writer and singer. He has many awards to his credit. Upendra, who is also a social activist, has done many great things for people.

The multi-talented personality apparently adopted a 9-years-old HIV affected girl in 2014.

Lakshmi is one of the senior actresses we have in South India. She has been part of multiple language projects like Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. She started her career as a teenager and became a successful actress. Lakshmi is not only an actor but also a director. Lakshmi who is an inspiring actress for many stars also become an inspiration for many people after she adopted a girl child in 2001.

‘Challenging star’ Darshan is one of the most popular actors we have in Sandalwood. He commands a huge fan following. Darshan, who is a busy actor, is also an animal lover. The actor has more than 12 dogs and 24 horses and other animals on his farm. He has a separate farmhouse in Mysore where he shelters many animals. Darshan has also rescued many animals apart from adopting an elephant and a tiger in Mysore zoo.

Prem Kumar is one of the best actors in Sandalwood who is popularly known for his love stories. He has a soft corner or orphan kids. Prem also reportedly adopted two specially-abled kids and has been providing for the education of many such other kids.

Pranitha Subhash, who is basically from Bengaluru, is a multi-language actress who has acted in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Pranitha was a volunteer to teach the students in a Government school. She taught English to the kids. The actress even reportedly went on to adopt a school and help in its development by providing for it. Pranitha also encouraged female children by telling them the importance of the school. She is also credited for building toilets, particularly for girls.
