The essence of Malnad is captured in Kerebete, says Gowri Shankar

The trailer of Kannada film Kerebete is gaining steam on digital platforms. Starring Gowri Shankar and Bindu Shivaram in lead roles, the Raj Guru direction is set to hit theatres in March.

Talking about the film, which marks his return to the silver screen, Gowri Shankar says, “The movie explores the annual fish-catching event in a Malnad village, a theme never touched upon before in Sandalwood. Amongst the backdrop of this fish-catching sport, elements of love, action, and romance are intertwined. We’ve also included the Malnad style ritual Antige Pintige, where folk songs are sung by villagers and diyas are carried to households during Deepavali night, a common practice in Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru regions. There are situational fight sequences as well.”
