“English

Manja

is my first commercial film in Kannada and this was the kind of film I was waiting for all this while,” says Thejaswini, who starred in the

Kodava

film, Kodagara Sipayi, a web series and two other content-oriented Kannada films.

“While I’m happy to have done the other two movies that focused on content, this film is a typical potboiler with a judicious dose of love, friendship, action and drama. It was a complete detour from whatever I’ve done as it featured mass elements,” Thejaswini tells us.
The actor says her character is a simpleton called Kamli. “Kamli is a homely girl whose sole mission is to dote on Manja and be around him always; for Manja, Kamli is his life. Basically, every Kannadiga girl will relate to her character,” observes Thejaswini.

The film was shot in Bengaluru and

Kolar

and, as the title suggests, has a lot to do with Manja learning English. “He keeps flunking English and there’s a lot going on on that front. It forms the crux of the story. Pramod sir is such a powerful performer and

Ratnan Prapancha

further proved it. He made my job so much easier. Working in English Manja was a smooth ride because of my hero and the manner in which our director,

Arya Mahesh

, conceived my character,” wraps up Thejaswini.
