Her last outing in Kannada, Bheema Theeradalliopposite Duniya Vijay, might not have set the cash registers ringing at the box office, but Pranita Subhash has put that in the backburner and is gearing up for her big-ticketed release in Kollywood, Saguni, in which she teams up with Karthi.

'I play a city-based girl, who is simple, sweet and innocent. I could relate to this character well, as it is a bit like what I am in real life. Saguni was supposed to hit the screens long time ago, but there has been an inordinate delay in the release of the film due to the strike in the Tamil film industry. Moreover, there are many artists in the film and matching their dates to work to the film's shoot schedule took some time,' says Pranita.
Though the film is billed to be the biggest release in her career, Pranita says that there is hardly any pressure on her and that 'she is just excited.' But quiz her about the rumour that some of the portions in Saguni had to be reshot and that Pranita didn't agree to do it and she retorts, 'There was no re-shoot at all. I had given all dates required by the team and there were absolutely no problems during the shoot. You can enquire with the team. In fact, they are very happy with me.'
Her last Kannada release Bheema Theeradalli was mired in controversy 50 days after the film hit the screens. A group of activists from the Bheema river basin took offence to the title citing it's an insult to them and Prasad, the distributor of the film said that the film will be renamed Chandappa.
But there has been no update from the film unit thereafter. When asked Pranita about it, she feigned ignorance. 'I do not have much idea about this. All I know is that the film has received positive reviews,' she says.
Now that the actor has seven films to her credit, does she consider herself to be a bankable star? 'Yes. I'm hoping to do more performance-oriented roles,' she says.
