Although actor Yash's career began on television, it didn't take him much time to progress into a bonafide film star. Following a brief stint as a supporting actor,
Yash began to feature as a leading man and charmed the audiences almost right away. His 2011 hit '
Kirataka
', in this regard, will hold a special place as not only did it fetch the much-required commercial benefits but it also proved that Yash is a highly capable performer who has a long and successful career ahead of him.
'Kirataka' was director Pradeep Raj's debut outing, and despite being a remake of a Tamil hit ('Kalavani'), the Kannada counterpart carried its own unique flavor. The film also stands as one of Yash's earliest and best performances to date as he brought in his own native touches to the characters and added a layer of authenticity to the role. 'Kirataka' also starred Oviya who had featured as the female lead in the Tamil version as well.
'Kirataka' also holds an interesting distinction of being the 3000th Kannada film and also perhaps Yash's very first commercial success as a lead actor. Post the release of the film, there has been no turning back for the "

V. Manohar's soundtrack who also penned the lyrics of the songs - the song
Dhanakku Dandaa is especially noteworthy for having the names of nearly 108 villages of the
Mandya
district in its lyrics. The film was produced by Sharavana Murthy and Shantha Kumari with R. Selva and Palani Vel handling cinematography and editing respectively.
