A cranky 101-year-old man from a small village in Karnataka made an impact on the billboards of the streets of New York. The man in question, called
Century Gowda only because he is over 100 and alive, plays a crucial character in the National Award-winning Kannada film Thithi. The film stars a host of regular people from a particular village who have no acting experience whatsoever.
This picture was taken on the streets of Manhattan during the New Directors/New Films Festival at the Museum of Modern Art and the Lincoln Center when the trailer of Thithi was being played on all the screens. Directed by debutant
Raam Reddy, the film has won a series of international awards already and will now see its theatrical release in the state next week.
