'Vidyapati' OTT release: When and where to watch the Kannada comedy drama

The Kannada action comedy-drama 'Vidyapati', directed by the duo Esham-Haseen, made its theatrical debut on April 10, 2025. While the film received mixed reviews from audiences, many feeling that the comedy elements didn’t quite hit the mark, the film is now gearing up for its digital release.

OTT release details'Vidyapati' is set to premiere on the streaming platform Sun NXT starting May 28, 2025. The OTT announcement was made by the OTT platform through their social media handle. On X (formerly Twitter) sharing a 26 second clip from the film, they wrote, "Ee Sukravaara, SunNXT-ige barthide Superhit Chalanachitra - “Vidhyapathi”. Only 3 more days to go !!"


Plot overviewThe story follows Siddhu, an ordinary man with big dreams of fame. His life takes an unexpected turn when he marries Vidya, a successful film star. Their sudden marriage thrusts Siddhu into the limelight, but he soon finds himself struggling to cope with the pressures of being in Vidya's shadow. The film opens with Vidya sneaking out for street food while wearing sunglasses to avoid attention. She crosses paths with Siddhu after he steps in to stop a harassment incident on the street. A chain of surprising events leads to their marriage.

As Vidya’s career continues to flourish, Siddhu takes on the role of managing her schedule but grows increasingly frustrated with his secondary position in her life. The tension escalates when a local goon named Jaggu demands a selfie with Vidya. After Vidya slaps him for his rude behavior, Jaggu vows revenge.

Cast and crewThe film stars Nagabhushana as Siddhu and Malaika T Vasupal as Vidya, supported by Raghavendra Raghu and Karthik Rao in important roles.

'Vidyapati' features cinematography by Lavith and a musical score by DOSSMODE. The creative direction is handled by N Tejesh Ganesh.
