Music genres get a dash of different
Move over heavy metal, electronica and folk rock. There are quite a few unusual music genres that might, at best, be underground and bizarre, but that they exist stands testimony to the fact that the taste in music can be a very personal one, and that given a chance, we humans will not hesitate to experiment. Here's a list of 10 unusual, unheard-of music genres...
ANTIFOLK
Antifolk is raw, poorly-executed music that mocks the pretension of established mainstream folk scene, and mocks itself.
1x1 polls
It combines politically-charged attitudes of the 60s punk scene with the sounds of American folk tradition.
BABYMETAL
When Japanese teenage girls Su Metal, Yui Metal and Moa Metal mixed J-pop idol music with heavy metal, metalheads were very upset. But the trio, defining themselves as a `kawaii metal' (Japanese for cute) dance group, have since grown in popularity.
CHIPTUNE
Also known as chipbreak or chip music, chiptune is a form of electronic music that has been created using sound-chips from arcade machines and video game consoles from the early 80s.

CHAP HOP
With roots in Chappism, a school of thought that proposes a return to the more dandified way of life, chap hop artists rhyme about aristocracy, pipe smoking and sherry in the quintessential hip hop style.
CLOWNSTEP
When Shimon and Andy released a dubstep track called Bodyrock, it was heavily criticized, as many felt that it was dance music for deranged clowns.Clownstep was born, and surprisingly, caught the fancy of many electronic musicians.
DANGER MUSIC
An experimental form of avantgarde 20th and 21st century music, danger music is based on the concept that some pieces of music can or will harm either the listener or the performer. Live performances are almost always can celed before they can be performed.
SCOTTISH PIRATE METAL
With a heady mix of power metal and folk metal, Scottish pirate metal is massively amped up and catchy sea shanties (songs to accompany labour on board large ships) chanted by grown men in fancy pirate clothes.
STONER ROCK
Combining elements of heavy metal, psychedelic rock, blues rock, acid rock, and doom metal, stoner rock is a slow-to-mid tempo sound featuring heavily-distorted and groove-laden bass-heavy sound with melodic vocals.
UNBLACK METAL
Sound-wise, unblack metal is not so different from black metal; it has the same growling, guttural vocals, heavily-distorted guitars and insane tempos. But the lyrics promote Christian ideals, have Bilblical quotes, and, often describe how awesome Jesus is.
WITCH HOUSE/DRAG
An occult-themed dark electronic music genre from the late 2000s, drag is heavily influenced by industrial noises and chopped hip-hop sounds, and features the use of synthesizers, droning repetition and heavily altered, ethereal vocals.
