A playback theatre performance featuring stories of single people

What does being single mean? What defines it? Is it a phase or is it a mindset?

First Drop Theatre’s upcoming show ‘Ekaki...Flying Solo’ is a playback theatre performance where viewers can share their moments and experiences of their single life from the present or the past. The actors who are performing will reflect back on those real-life stories, on-the-spot.

For the uninitiated, playback theatre is a format of improvisational, interactive theatre where the actors use their creativity and skill, to present an engaging and dramatized retelling of the audience members' story on-the-spot.
Lasting one and a half hours, the show, this time features over 10 performers.

“This is not a scripted play. We have a playback theatre team that meets and practices regularly. We perform frequently on different topics such as D & I, allyship, caregiving and more. This particular show is around being single. We just felt that it would be good to have the stories of singles (or from when they were single) told on a platform,” says Bejoy, co-founder of First Drop Theatre, and also one of the performers.
