‘Theerppu’ hit the big screens on August 25 and according to the Twitter forums that track box office collection figures, the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer has raked in Rs 40 lakhs on its opening day at the Kerala box office. Meanwhile, Vijay Devarkonda’s action drama which was released along with ‘Theerppu’, managed to earn only Rs 25 lakhs on day 1 at the Kerala box office.

‘Theerppu’ directed by ‘Kammara Sambhavam’ fame Rathish Ambat, got many mixed responses from the audience as the majority of the early reactions suggested that the film lacked a good screenplay although it was stacked with impressive technical work.

‘Theerppu’ scripted by Murali Gopy boasted a strong cast that included the actors Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, Vijay Babu, Isha Talwar, Siddique, and Saiju Kurup. Early reactions also said that the performances of these lead actors were also okayish. Majority of the early reactions also said that the film would have worked well if it had a direct OTT release.

On the other hand, the recently released films ‘Thallumaala’ and ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’ are holding well at the box office as both films reportedly raked in Rs 40 crores and Rs 25 crores respectively. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Kaduva’ also made it big at the Kerala box office along with Suresh Gopi’s investigation thriller ‘Paappan’.
