Meghana Raj, who debuted in movies as a child actor, later emerged as a popular face in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu films. The actress is no stranger to Malayalam movies as she has been working in M-Town ever since her salad days. Meghana debuted in Malayalam movies in 2010, but did you know she played the role of a ghost in her maiden Malayalam movie? Yes, that’s right!
Meghana’s debut Malayalam movie was ‘Yakshiyum Njanum’. The film was helmed by popular director Vinayan. And Meghana played the lead role of Athira, a ghost. And she appeared as a beautiful ghost indeed!
"I never planned to act in Malayalam. Yakshiyum Njanum just happened and everything else just followed. In fact, in the last three years, I've spent more time in Kochi than in Bangalore," Meghana earlier shared, in an interview with us.
‘Yakshiyum Njanum’ is a horror-thriller and the film also had Goutham P Krishna, Thilakan, and Spadikam George in pivotal roles.
For the uninitiated, Vinayan is a popular filmmaker. He has directed horror films like ‘Aakashaganga’ and ‘Vellinakshathram’ in the past.
Meghana’s role and performance in ‘Yakshiyum Njanum’ surely grabbed the attention of the cinephiles.
Following the release of 'Yakshiyum Njanum', Meghana Raj was flooded with offers. She has also appeared in Malayalam movies like 'August 15'. 'Raghuvinte Swantham Rasiya', 'Pachuvum Kovalanum', 'Beautiful', 'Ponnu Kondoru Aalroopam', 'Namukku Parkkan', 'Poppins', 'Red Wine', 'Memories' among others.
Meghana Raj’s last outing in Malayalam was the 2017 release ‘Zebra Varakal’, directed by Sajin Lal. She played the role of Hanna in the film.
