Nanchamma literally won the hearts of every Malayali audience with the single song ‘Kalakkatha Sandhana’ from the action entertainer ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ which was directed by the late director Sachy.
As deserved, Nanchamma won the Best Female Playback Singer Award for the 68th National Film Awards for the film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’.
Nanchamma, who is an Indian folk singer who hails from a tribal community in Kerala, garnered much appreciation from the Malayali audience as she sang the song ‘Kalakkatha’ in the action entertainer ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. The song was written by herself in Irula language and composed by Jakes Bejoy for the movie directed by Sachy.
Nanchamma, previously bagged a special award at the Kerala State Film Award for the year 2020 for the movie ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’.
Nanchamma also played a significant role in Sachy’s directorial film as the mother character of Kannamma who is the wife of Ayyappan Nair played by the actor Biju Menon, who in turn bagged the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 68th National Film Awards for the same movie.
On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who played the lead role in the film penned a heart-felt note on Instagram that read, “ Congratulations Biju chettan, Nanchamma, and the entire action team of Ayyapanum Koshiyum. And Sachy..I don’t know what to say man... Wherever you are..I hope you’re happy…coz I’m proud of you..and will be forever.”
Meanwhile, ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ wins big at the 68th National Film Awards as the film bagged several awards in the categories Best Direction, Best Supporting Actor, Best Female Playback Singer, and Best Action Direction.
