Actor and drama artiste Ramachandran Mokeri passes away

Popular drama artiste and actor who played small roles in several Malayalam films, Ramachandran Mokeri, breathed his last on Sunday, September 4. Ramachandran Mokeri was aged 75. According to the reports, Ramachandran Mokeri was admitted to a private hospital a few days back as he was suffering from lung disease. Reports also say that Ramachandran Mokeri’s body will be later transferred to Thalasserry.

Being a theatre activist, actor, director, and writer, Ramachandran Mokeri focused mainly on revolutionary social theatre practice in Kerala and also worked as a director at the School of Drama and Fine Arts at the University of Calicut which is located in Aranattukara.

Having played in several popular dramas, Ramachandran Mokeri has also collaborated with several notable Malayalam film directors such as John Abraham, Chintha Ravi aka K Ravindran, and Ratheesh Ravindran for several Malayalam movies.

Ramachandran Mokeri played a prominent role in the classic Malayalam experimental film ‘Amma Ariyan’ which was directed by the veteran filmmaker John Abraham. ‘Amma Ariyan’, which is considered to be one of the best experimental films in Mollywood, also featured the actors Joy Mathew, Maji Venkitesh, Nilambur Balan, Kunhulakshmi Amma, and Harinarayanan in significant lead roles.

Ramachandran Mokeri also played a supreme role in the classic films ‘Ore Thooval Pakshikal’, 'Galileo’, and ‘Pixelia’ which were directed by Ratheesh Ravindran and was released in the year 2018. 'Pixelia' told the life of a bachelor named Kumar who leaves his corporate job in Kochi to become a graphic novelist. The film can be categorised as a drama movie.
