Malayalam film industry bids farewell to one of its iconic actors, Kundara Johny, who succumbed to a cardiac arrest at the age of 71. The actor breathed his last on October 17, 2023, while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kollam, leaving his fans and the industry in mourning.
The versatile artist Kundara Johny who initially began his career with uncredited roles in the world of Malayalam cinema, found his footing and earned much recognition for his character roles in several superhit films.
Kundara Johny’s journey in the film industry commenced in 1979 when he was in his twenties, and it was marked by countless memorable performances. While his earlier roles in films such as 'Agniparvatham' and 'Nithya Vasantham' gained him recognition, it was his portrayal of antagonists that gave him much recognition among the cinephiles. His portrayal of Nambiar in the evergreen classic 'Nadodikkattu' is etched into the memories of cinephiles as an iconic performance that showcased his acting prowess.
Kundara Johny's talent and versatility knew no bounds, and he left an indelible impact on the industry through his roles in cinematic gems like 'Oru CBI Diary Kurippu,' 'Kireedam,' 'Chenkol,' and 'Spadikam,' among others.
Mourning the actor’s demise, the legendary actor Mohanlal penned a note on his official Facebook handle that read, “Dear Johnny has bid us farewell. We shared the screen in numerous films, including the iconic 'Kireedam' and 'Chenkol.' Despite his on-screen portrayal of villains, in real life, he was a person of great humility, innocence, and warmth. My dear Johnny, we didn't just lose an exceptional actor; we lost one of my dearest friends. It's with a heavy heart that we extend our heartfelt condolences”
