Actor Siddique appears for questioning in alleged sexual assault case

Malayalam actor Siddique on Monday (October 7) appeared before Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, Sparjan Kumar, for questioning over the sexual assault case allegedly filed against him in 2016.

According to News 18, he was accompanied by fellow actor Biju Pappan and Siddique's son, Shaheen Siddique. A special investigation team has been investigating the charges. The FIR was filed against accused Malayalam film star Siddique who has been booked for raping an aspiring actress inside a hotel room in Thiruvananthapuram.


For the unversed, the crime in question is said to have happened at the Mascot Hotel, where Siddique is believed to have lured the victim solely with the motive of a professional meeting.

Recently Kerala High Court denied the anticipatory bail plea and the case took on a renewed turn. It was then that Siddique approached the Supreme Court for relief and got a temporary stay on arrest for two weeks. The Supreme Court was of the view that Siddique need not be arrested while pending appeal.

Meanwhile, on Sunday (6th October), he wrote a formal letter to the investigating team wherein he expressed his intention to cooperate with the investigation process. It was only then that the team agreed to decide on the date for him to be questioned and intimated him to their intention of giving prior notice before subjecting him to their interrogation.

On the work front, Siddique was last seen in the comedy-drama movie ‘Nunakkuzhi’ which was directed by Jeethu Joseph. Siddique also plays a pivotal role in the upcoming Unni Mukundan starrer action flick ‘Marco’ which is set to hit the big screens this Christmas.
