Amala Paul makes a return to M-Town with a thriller

Amala Paul’s last outing in Malayalam was playing an ultra-modern character in the Kannan Thamarakkulam multi-starrer Achayans in 2017. The actress, who has started shooting for her comeback film in the industry, will be playing the polar opposite character in this film. In The Teacher directed by Athiran-fame Vivek, she plays a simple woman who hails from Kollam.

Director Vivek tells us, “This is a fiction inspired by real events and I would call it a coming-of-age thriller. We have been shooting in locations that are very much real, with no cinematic augmentations. It is progressing in Kollam district, and we have a few spots like Munroe Thuruthu, Thenmala and Kochi as locations.”

Amala’s title character is the ‘teacher,’ but Vivek says that he can’t reveal much about it. “She is a working woman, who is also a homemaker; this is a kind of character that she hasn't done before.” About the events narrated in the film, he tells us, “I don’t think that the exact incidents presented in the story have happened anywhere, god forbid, so far. However, I would say, there are chances that they might happen, in the future.”

The film also has Chemban Vinod Jose, Hakkim Shajahan, Anumol, Prashanth Murali, Nandu and Maala Parvathi in crucial roles. Anu Moothedath is the cinematographer of the film, which has music composed by Don Vincent.
