‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ starring
Mohanlal in the lead role hit the big screens on January 25. Despite high expectations surrounding its release, the
Lijo Jose Pellissery’s directorial is garnering mixed reviews. Ace filmmaker
Anurag Kashyap has now voiced his support for the film. The Bollywood filmmaker stated that he watched the film and ‘loved’ it.
Anurag Kashyap also went on to add that negative criticism cannot destroy a good fillm.
He also expressed that preconceived notions are the reason behind the criticism.
“Negative criticism cannot destroy a good film. I saw the film (Malaikottai Vaaliban) on screen. I loved the film. You are walking into the cinema with an expectation. So you have already decided what film you want to watch. So, you are not watching the film that is on the screen… It is one of the biggest problems I face today. When I go to watch (a movie) as an audience, I go in with a blank mind. So, when I go to watch Malaikottai Vaaliban, I'm not expecting Angamaly Diaries, but rather to see what Lijo has done this time or how Mohanlal pulled off the action scenes," he said.
Malaikottai Vaaliban | Song - Madabhare Naina (Lyrical)
Our critic rated the film 3 out of 5 and wrote, “Lijo Jose Pellishery's Malaikottai Vaaliban is a mixed bag of swift and interesting action scenes, epic frames, peppy songs and quite some lag in the first half. In what can be termed a visual extravaganza, Mohanlal matches the energy and mystery behind the titular character. While the basic story line, when you take Valiban out of the equation isn't very original or even well defined, there are very interesting elements adding layers to it. The film has Lijo's name written all over it.”
