Asif Ali to play a movie actor in Jis Joy’s film 'Innale Vare'

Jis Joy had teamed up with Asif Ali in most of his projects right since his directorial debut. Now, the duo has completed their latest film Innale Vare, too, and Jis tells us more about the main characters in the film.

“Asif’s character is a movie star, named Adi Shankar, in the film,” he tells us, adding, “He has many hits to his credit and is quite successful in his career. The character is given all shades of a new-age movie actor, and a very stylish one to boot.” Antony Varghese and Nimisha Sajayan play his friends in the movie, says, Jis. “Nimisha’s character works in Infopark, and Antony’s is a technician. We also have Reba Monica essaying the character of Adi’s girlfriend,” explains Jis. Nimisha’s character is named Shani and Antony Varghese is Sharath, in the film.

Pournamiyum became popular, people just tagged me as a ‘feel-good-film’ director. I always wanted to do all kinds of projects, and never really wanted to stick on to any genre completely. I just believe that be it any genre, one should make the film entertaining enough for the viewers.”

He reveals that the Asif-Ali starrer, which has its story by Bobby and Sanjay, is a complete thriller, with no space for songs or comedy. “There is no scope for any of it in this film,” he says. Earlier, Jis had told us that the thought for this project was born after he received an unusual phone call from actor Kunchacko Boban, saying that he was walking in the rain. “Bobby, Sanjay and I decided to not add any formulaic elements into this narrative, and have presented it in such a way that we organically travel with the characters. There would be many unconventional scenes too in this film,” he says, signing off.
