According to Indian Express, the NRI author George Thundiparambil has requested the court to issue a prohibitory injunction blocking the release of Mohanlal’s directorial venture. The case has been filed against Mohanlal, the story writer Jijo Punnoose, the producer Antony Perumbavoor, and TK Rajeev Kumar.

Reportedly the author, who is based in Germany, has alleged that ‘Barroz’ is lifted from his novel ‘Maya’. The author had sent a legal notice in July this year to the makers of ‘Barroz’, asking them to withdraw from the decision to release the movie before clearing the copyright issues.

‘Maya’ written by George, tells the story of the myth of Kappiri Muthappan who is a ghost assigned with the task of protecting hidden treasures at the Kochi Fort. The book was published in the year 2008.

‘Barroz’, based on the story penned by the ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’ fame Jijo Punnoose, also has some striking similarities to ‘Maya’ written by the NRI author. Reportedly George claims that his friend had approached the director TK Rajeev Kumar in the year 2016 with a proposal to adapt ‘Maya’ into a film. George’s friend also revealed that TK Rajeev Kumar told him that he would discuss the story with Jijo Punnoose and later no further developments happened on this.
