Mammootty’s high-concept game thriller ‘Bazooka’ has completed its first four days at the box office, collecting an estimated Rs 9.15 crore India net.
Gradual decline in collectionsWhile the film opened to decent numbers, early trends suggest a gradual decline in daily collections.
According to data from the Sacnilk website, ‘Bazooka’ earned Rs 3.2 crore on its opening day (Thursday), fueled by Mammootty’s star power and pre-release buzz. However, the collections saw a significant dip on Day 2 (Friday) with Rs 2.1 crore, marking a 34.38% drop. The downward trend continued through the weekend with Day 3 (Saturday) bringing in Rs 2 crore and Day 4 (Sunday) contributing around ₹1.85 crore, based on early estimates.
Occupancy ratesDespite being a thriller with a novel concept, ‘Bazooka’ appears to be facing a lukewarm response from general audiences. The film registered an overall Malayalam occupancy of 35.60% on Sunday, April 13. The highest turnout was recorded during the evening shows, with occupancy peaking at 45.75%. Night shows also performed moderately well with 39.13% occupancy.
Region-wise, Kochi led the pack with an impressive 50.75% average occupancy across all shows, reaching 66% during night shows. Trivandrum followed with a moderate 39.25%, while Bengaluru posted a lower figure of 20.25%.
Directed by Deeno Dennis, Bazooka stars Mammootty in the lead alongside an ensemble cast including Gautham Vasudev Menon, Shine Tom Chacko, Divya Pillai, Anoop Menon, Sumit Naval, Sidharth Bharathan, and Ishwarya Menon.
Audience responsesThe film’s stylized visuals and suspense-driven narrative have garnered praise in pockets, especially among Mammootty’s fanbase. Netizens laud the climax sequence of this Mammootty starrer. One Twitter user wrote, “Style over substance so far. DOP, background score, and Ikka’s title card stand out, but the rest - including the screenplay feels mid and lacks impact. Interval doesn’t hit hard. Second half will decide the verdict - needs to be strong!”
