'Bha. Bha. Ba’ controversial scene EXPLAINED: Why this moment is under fire in Dileep’s film? writers clarify
Dileep-starrer 'Bha. Bha. Ba.' has landed in controversy after a scene from the film upset many viewers online. This is Dileep’s first film to release after his acquittal in the actress abduction and assault case. Because of this background, many people felt the scene was very painful and insensitive.
As per netizens, a character in the film casually says, “Annan kidnapped her and m**** her,” and then brushes it off by saying, “Relax bro, she is a cow.” Many felt this line made a cruel reference to the real-life case and the survivor. This led to strong criticism on social media.
Apart from this scene viewers also pointed out scenes that reminded them of actor Prithviraj’s public response during the actress assault case. Many people questioned why such scenes were needed at all especially given the sensitive situation.
Now, writers Noor and Fahim have responded to the criticism in an interview with Ginger Media. They said clearly that no scene or dialogue was written to hurt anyone. Fahim said, “Not a single scene or dialogue was done to hurt anyone.”
They explained that the film was written only with humour in mind. They said the story was created by thinking about old films and popular characters. “If people understood what we intended, that itself is a good thing,” they said.
The writers said the film is a full spoof. “This is a proper spoof film, made by using references from many films, character references, and humour alone.” They added that even actors were treated in a spoof way, based on how people talk about them.
They explained that the cow scene shows the bad thinking of a character. “Only when a character is bad does the audience dislike a villain.”
Fahim requested people to watch the film as a film. He said, “If anyone felt troubled, we are sorry.” He added that criticism is fine, but the way it is said matters. They said they will accept criticism and learn from it for their next film.
