'Bheeshma Parvam' scriptwriter reveals that the plot of the Mammootty starrer is inspired from Mahabharata and ‘The Godfather’

. Recently in an interview with an online channel, the writer divulged whether ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ was loosely based on the epic ‘Mahabharata’ and the classic Hollywood gangster drama ‘The Godfather’.

Devadath Shaji opened up by saying that the characters in ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ are clearly inspired by the mythology ‘Mahabharata’ and in the opening title credits there is a thank note written for Vedavyasa who wrote the Hindu epic.

Devadath Shaji further added by saying that he has also taken reference from the Hollywood film ‘The Godfather’ and the opening sequence of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is actually a homage to the classic gangster drama film helmed by the renowned director Francis Ford Coppola. ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ opens with a title card thanking the veteran Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo who is the creator of ‘The Godfather’.

Meanwhile, the Mammootty starrer ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ has reportedly crossed 100 crores at the box office within one month of its release. The film is heading towards an OTT release which is scheduled for April 1st.

Following the success of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’, Mammootty will reportedly team up with Amal Neerad again for the film ‘Bilal’ which is a second part to the superhit gangster film ‘Big B’ which was released in the year 2007.
