‘Checkmate’ Box Office Collections Day 3: Anoop Menon starrer earns Rs 22 lakh

Despite receiving mixed to mediocre reviews, Anoop Menon's latest film Checkmate appears to be holding its ground at the box office.


According to the Sacnilk website, the film has managed to collect Rs 22 lakh worldwide within its first three days. The India net collections stand at Rs 21 lakhs, with an India gross of Rs 22 lakhs.


The film has shown a gradual increase in earnings over the initial days. On its opening day, Checkmate earned Rs 6 lakh from the Kerala Box Office (KBO). The momentum continued, with the film collecting Rs 9 lakhs on the second day and Rs 6 lakhs on the third day, contributing to its overall total. While these numbers may not be considered blockbuster figures, they indicate a steady performance, especially given the film's less-than-stellar critical reception.

Checkmate is a thriller set against the backdrop of New York City, where each character navigates the complexities of life and power dynamics. The film unfolds like a game of chess, with characters acting as both pawns and queens in a high-stakes battle. The plot centers around the lives of a pharmaceutical company CEO, a failed Don, a grieving widower, and a shrewd lawyer, whose paths cross when a mysterious woman is kidnapped. This event triggers a chain reaction in New York City's underworld, leading to unexpected twists and turns.

Directed by Ratish Sekhar, Checkmate features Anoop Menon in a pivotal role, supported by performances from Lal, Rekha Harindran, and Swapneel Batra.
