'Cult' actor Zaid Khan said NO to Dulquer Salmaan and also rejected many Malayalam offers, here's why - Reports

Zaid Khan is slowly finding his space in cinema. In a recent interview Zaid says he gets many film offers and this is especially from Malayalam cinema. Zaid has not said yes to any of them.

In a promotional interview with Kairam Vaashi for his upcoming film 'Cult', Zaid also shared that he recently got an offer to act in a film with Dulquer Salmaan. But he chose to say no.

Why Zaid said no

Zaid explained that he has a clear idea about his career path. He told the makers that he would do the film only if it was made in Kannada first and then dubbed into other languages.



The 'Cult' actor said, “I made it clear to them that I would only do it if it is made in Kannada and then dubbed in other languages.” But the team did not agree.




Zaid added, “They said that it would not be possible because if it is made as a Kannada film they will not be able to sell rights which also includes OTT.” He also said this problem exists because of the current state of the Kannada film industry.

Zaid wanted to join THIS Yash starrer too

In a previous chat with Gaurish Akki Studio director Anil Kumar shared an old memory about Zaid. He said, “Zaid wanted to know if I would be willing to do My Name is Kirataka with him.” But Anil refused because the role was written only for Yash. He later promised Zaid a new script.'My Name is Kirataka' is one of the popular movies of the 'Toxic' actor Yash.

Anil Kumar said he wrote 'Cult' keeping Zaid in mind. He shared, “When working with a relative newbie, there are two chains of thought.” He added, “I wrote the script of Cult keeping that in mind, with the focus firmly on all that Zaid has to bring to the table.”

'Cult' is a romantic drama directed by Anil Kumar. It stars Zaid Khan along with Malaika Vasupal and Rachita Ram.
