Dileep reveals Kamal Haasan missed 'Twenty:20' song: 'He called me and asked'

Actor Dileep recently opened up about a fascinating behind-the-scenes story from the 2008 Malayalam blockbuster 'Twenty:20', which featured nearly every major star from the industry.

Dileep planned a song in 'Twenty Twenty' with Kamal Haasan

In a chat with CinePlus, Dileep revealed that he had initially planned a special song featuring top stars from across Indian cinema — including Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.


“He called me up and said, ‘So, are you still doing that song? When do you want me to come for the shoot?’ But by that time, we had already reached the point where the film needed to be wrapped up and released,” Dileep said, expressing regret over not being able to include Kamal Haasan in the final cut.

The actor also recalled that he produced Twenty:20 to raise funds for the AMMA association’s charity programs, with every artist working without remuneration.

Directed by Joshiy and written by Udayakrishna–Siby K. Thomas, Twenty:20 remains a milestone for its scale, ambition, and cast. The movie features Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Dileep, Jayaram, Bhavana, and majority of the Malayalam actors. With perfect screen space given for the actors, 'Twenty Twenty' was indeed a milestone in Mollywood.

‘Bha Bha Ba’ teaser hints at Dileep’s comeback

Meanwhile, Dileep is gearing up for a grand return with Bha Bha Ba, an action entertainer that reunites him with Mohanlal. The teaser, released on his birthday, features Dileep delivering the line, “Intha Vaatti miss aakaaathu (Won’t miss it this time),” hinting at his comeback moment.

The glimpse also showcases Vineeth Sreenivasan hunting down Dileep, with Dhyan Sreenivasan playing a key role. Mohanlal’s voice closes the teaser with, “Azhinjaattam Thudangiyaalo?” confirming his cameo. Bha Bha Ba will hit theatres worldwide on December 18, 2025, marking Dileep’s highly anticipated return to the big screen.
