Renowned director Priyanandanan recently revealed the abrupt cancellation of his 2004 film ‘Mandarapoovu’. The film, which starred Prithviraj in the lead role, was halted after just six days of shooting—a decision Priyanandanan alleges to the influence of a powerful group within Mollywood.

According to On Manorama, Priyanandanan detailed how the issue emerged after Prithviraj appeared in a film directed by Vinayan, which led to an industry-wide ban on the actor. Priyanandanan believes that this ban was orchestrated by a group he claims holds significant sway in the industry. “It is my movie that suffered because of it,” the director expressed, reflecting on the unfortunate outcome of his project.

While Priyanandanan refrained from explicitly naming the group as the 'power group,' he strongly suggested that their influence was the main factor in canceling Mandarapoovu.“I’m not sure if that group is called the ‘power group,’ but there was a group involved in canceling my movie. It’s not something that one person could have done alone.” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Priyanandan is known for the films such as ‘Sufi Paranja Katha’, ‘Pulijanmam’, and ‘Bhakthajanangalude Sradhakku’

On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran recently shed light on the existence of Power group, during a press interaction. He said, “Just because I haven't been affected by the power group doesn't mean it's not there. If such a group exists, I believe it shouldn't be allowed to continue.”
