Renowned director Vinayan has responded to recent comments by Girish AD, the director of the successful comedy drama film 'Premalu,' correcting the notion that Vinayan's early films, 'Sipayi Lahala' and 'Kalyana Sougandhikam,' did not receive much attention from audiences. In a Facebook post, Vinayan clarified that both films were commercial hits and garnered positive responses from viewers.
Vinayan's post on Facebook addressed Girish AD's statement made in an interview where he mentioned that 'Sipayi Lahala' and 'Kalyana Sougandhikam' didn't gain much attention upon their initial release. Vinayan's response highlighted the success of both films, emphasising their positive reception by audiences. He pointed out that 'Kalyana Sougandhikam' played a pivotal role in the career growth of actress Divya Unni, who made her entry into the industry through the film, and also contributed to the success of actor Dileep.
Vinayan reminisced about the unique comedic treatment in 'Sipayi Lahala' and mentioned that during that time, without online reviews, the positive critiques were found in movie magazines. He asserted that even after 28 years, people still enjoy watching both films on television, showcasing their enduring popularity.
In addition to setting the record straight on the success of his early films, Vinayan mentioned that both 'Sipayi Lahala' and 'Kalyana Sougandhikam' remain his favourite projects in his illustrious career.
Meanwhile, Vinayan's previous outing, 'Pathonpatham Noottandu', did well at the box office.
