Divya Pillai-Jins Baskar play a conflicting couple in lockdown film, Easy GO
It might be a time when cinema has taken a beating, but that has not stopped creative efforts in filmmaking during the lockdown. Divya Pillai recently acted in a short film titled Easy Go - that can also be read as Ego - that looks at how a broken marriage could be on the path of recovery during the lockdown. The marriage could also be seen as a metaphor for redemption during this difficult time.

The short film was made as an effort to see how it could be made under the present circumstances with safety protocols, and limited crew and production facilities, said cinematographer-director Shamdat Sainudeen, who helmed the project.

The film was released on social media on Divya’s birthday on Monday. Announcing the project, the actor wrote, “So soon after lockdown was relaxed, my first ever DOP that I worked with Sham ettan, contacted me with this beautiful concept! I readily said yes! I could not wait any longer to get back to acting n being in front of the camera! Sham ettan, Jins Baskar (lead actor) and of course, lovely family of Sham ettan are the crew members of this short movie!”
Divya, who is also currently a part of reality show Mr & Mrs, plays a young wife ready to call it quits on her marriage, which she feels leaves her feeling as a servant, with all the housework she is left to handle on her own. The 30-minute film does not offer any romantic quick fixes, but offers a realistic and thought-provoking peek into a marriage, and ends on a note of hope.
